For the fifth time in six years, the Junction City Dragons have won
outright or at least shared
the 7AA East title. On Friday night the Dragons clinched at least a share
of the title with a 61-0
win over Smackover. Junction City rolled up 404 yards of offense
and in the process held Smackover to
only 20 yards of offense. For the season the Dragons have held teams to a
total of 114 yards
rushing, an average of 12.6 yards a game.
Maurice Moore was the top rusher with 131 yards on 10 carries. Jonathan
Sims had 78 yards on four
carries, Perry Williams finished with 62 yards on just three carries and
Victor Meadows 52 yards
on two carries. Brannin Carter finished up with 51 yards on seven
carries.
The Dragons now take on Norphlet in the regular season finale. A win gives
the title outright to
the Junction Boys.
Norphlet comes into the game with a 6-3 record. The Leopards are
coming off a disappointing 28-14
loss to the Hampton Bulldogs. The win gave Hampton the third seed for the
upcoming playoffs.
In other games around the conference, Westside defeated Sparkman and
Bearden beat Harmony Grove.

The Bulldogs have all but wrapped up the third seed. They need a win
against the Buckaroos to give
them confidence going into the playoffs. A Smackover victory gives
them something to hang their
hats on going into off season workouts.
